5pm, Venice Beach Pier

Photography & words by Toby Mitchell, featured in Vol. 1°

Cool mid January air ran through my fingers as I walked to the end of Venice Beach Pier. Contentment consumed my soul as what I had imagined for years and reality aligned for the first time; The Californian dream was no longer a distant hope of adventure, but my present, right in front of me. The pastel sunset hazed the Malibu mountains as the soundscape of rollerblades and surfing brought peace to my world. A rare moment of silence. My battle to put down the camera was no longer a struggle. All I wanted was to enjoy what was before me; breathe in and be still.
